March 2020. The world had gone indoors, and the brush became a way out. This work carries the particular energy of someone who needed, urgently, to be somewhere vast and open — the title saying everything: where mountains rise high, birds soar freely — a quiet declaration made from a place of confinement.

The cliff face commands the composition, rising with angular authority while mist wraps its base and dissolves the world below. A flock of birds crosses the open middle distance — unhurried, unbounded, belonging entirely to themselves.

The brushwork is direct and confident. Rough, angular strokes carve the cliff face with structural force, while the pines in the foreground are rendered in dense, layered marks that give each tree its own dark weight. Mist is handled in broad, wet washes, creating the vast breathing space the painting — and perhaps its maker — needed most, the mountains holding firm while the birds go where they will.

二零二零年三月。世界闭门不出，笔墨成了出口。此画携带着一种迫切需要置身辽阔之地的气息——题名已说尽一切：山高任鸟飞——一句从困居之所发出的轻声宣言。

崖壁主导画面，以棱角分明之势拔地而起，云雾缠绕其基，将下方的世界悄然消融。一群鸟儿横越开阔的中景——从容、自由，完全属于它们自己。

笔法直接而有力。粗犷的方折笔触以结构性力量刻画崖面，前景松树以浓密层叠的笔墨写就，赋予每棵树各自的沉实分量。云雾以宽笔湿墨大面积晕染，营造出画面——也许也是画者——最需要的辽阔呼吸之感，山自巍然屹立，鸟则任意飞去。
