"Study After Ni Zan: Pine, Bamboo, and a Quiet Hut" - Limited Edition Giclée Print on Bamboo Paper
Giclée print of an original ink painting by Ming Ge.
Edition of: 75
Ni’s paintings employ light chafing and faint, airy ink wash. It is very difficult to achieve his unique subtle moisture (vs dryness) and depth with richness within.

Ni Zan is perhaps the most austere voice in all of Chinese painting — spare compositions, dry brushwork, and an emptiness so deliberate it becomes its own kind of fullness. The inscription is characteristically honest: his light, chafing strokes and faint washes are easy to admire and extraordinarily difficult to replicate.
This study captures his essential spirit. A pine leans with quiet ease in the foreground, rendered in Ni Zan's characteristically dry, unhurried strokes — light pressure, minimal ink, nothing forced. Bamboo surrounds a small hut with understated grace, each leaf placed with care. A rock stands nearby, simply stated.
Above, a mountain dissolves into pale washes across an expanse of open water — the vast breathing emptiness that is Ni Zan's most enduring gift to Chinese landscape painting.
