Snow arrives early in this painting, before the trees have fully released their autumn color. Painted from memory, the work reconstructs a Canadian winter landscape through the language of classical Chinese ink — an unlikely pairing that, on the paper, feels entirely natural.

In Chinese landscape tradition, painting from recollection is a deliberate act of distillation — keeping only what truly remained. What survives here is elemental: weight, cold, stillness, and the quiet persistence of living things beneath it all.

Snow-laden pines crowd the foreground with dark authority while a river draws the eye toward mountains that rise and dissolve into mist. A small flock of birds crosses the middle distance, unhurried. The warm ochre of bare tree trunks cuts through the gray and white with understated force — color used sparingly, earning its place in an otherwise restrained composition.

雪来得早，树木尚未褪尽秋色。此画忆写加拿大冬日山景，以中国传统水墨写就——看似不寻常的相遇，落于纸上，却浑然天成。

中国山水传统中，忆写非为局限，而是一种刻意的提炼——留下真正留存之物。此画所余皆为本质：重量、寒意、静默，以及万物之下生命的悄然坚持。

雪压青松以深沉之势挺立前景，一河之水引领视线向远山延伸，山峰升腾而没入云雾。数鸟横越中景，从容不迫。裸露树干的暖赭色在灰白之间以不事张扬的力量破色而出——色彩用得克制，恰到好处。
